Spent his boyhood years in the Keystone/Torrence area of California
In 1945 Leslie Jasper Mace’s family moved back to Springfield, Missouri.
Les married Virginia Sue Dunaway on May 26, 1956. They took Route 66 to California for their honeymoon.
Education and Work Experience
Graduated with B.S. in Industrial Engineering at Missouri State University where he is recognized as a “Golden Bear”
Worked with his father, Ted, in California in various venues: Shipyards/Railroad/Service Station Car Lot
Les graduated from high school, attended Missouri State University, and then worked for his dad who was a car dealer at the time
Worked for an Engineering company (designed electrical substations)
Held a job with Eagle Picher Company (mining). Served in Quality Control for a plant in New Mexico. (made listening devices for military used in Viet Nam)
1970: bought out his dad’s business: Surplus Auto Parts (Gov’t surplus): Nutz & Boltz
Also worked in heavy equipment sales & appraisals
